IVF – The Journey of Hope.

IVF – A not so easy journey

Imagine for one second that the minute you wake up in the morning the first thought you have is: “when will we have a baby?” You get dressed, have breakfast, brush your teeth, drive to work and during these 60 minutes, 59 of these minutes were spent thinking, wanting, longing to hold a baby. Your baby.

Everywhere you turn there are babies or pregnant women. There are babies at the shopping centre, at the coffee shops, at the grocery stores, at the movies, at the doctor’s office and hell don’t mention that all of our friends also have babies. You’re surround by babies or pregnant ladies.

As many of you know, I run a baby business called Finlee and Me and through this business I like to not only donate to certain causes, but I also am always looking for opportunities to assist people when and where I can. I’ve found that helping people makes the heart beat that little bit faster, your soul a touch fuller and your smile a bit wider. And with that, please let me introduce to you Cindy and Tim.

This amazing couple first met in high school in the wonderful city of Hobart. Together for 15 years and married for 6 Cindy and Tim thought that by the time they were 30 they would have had 3 kids, but unfortunately this is not the case and they would be over the moon to just have 1.

After 18 months of Cindy suffering from the most horrific period pain on a monthly basis (requiring 2-3 days off work a month) she  was finally diagnosed with endometriosis (this was in 2005). Her IVF doctor advised it was the most severe case of endo he had come across in his 20 years of being a gyno / IVF specialist. The endo is so severe it has twisted around her bowels and is unable to be removed by laser removal. She has to travel to Melbourne to have a major operation which includes the removal of part of her bowel and her doctor also said it could end up that she may need a full hysterectomy. In addition, Cindy will require a colostomy bag for 2 weeks and be unable to work etc for 6 weeks (they did not go forward with this operation at that time due to advise from their treating doctor). Being told this at the age of 27 Cindy and Tim were advised to start IVF.

Fast forward 10 years later and 14 IVF cycles later Tim and Cindy still have no baby. They were finally told at the end of last year that their best hope would be via an egg donor. They signed immediately up for this process and were fortunate that a willing donor was found within 3 months. Unfortunately out of the 3 embryos which were produced via the donor’s eggs and Tim’s sperm not one survived long enough for them to have a transfer ($4500 was spent without even one embryo being transferred).

Today I received news that this beautiful soul has been admitted to hospital and has no option but to finally have the 8 hour emergency operation in order save her bowel and other organs due to the endometriosis now attaching organs to each other. They have also been advised that there is a high percentage that she will also need a hysterectomy and her hopes of having a baby will be gone.

As this has happened so fast she is going to need time off work for up to 12 weeks, they are still paying for past IVF treatments and they are desperately just trying to hang on. If every person that reads this LITERALLY donates $1 we could reach our goal in just a few days and help to take some of the pain and stress away.

As a person who has also gone through the IVF journey and struggled many years of heartache myself, I am asking you to please dig deep for this couple. Please assist them to get through this operation, recover and fingers crossed they can continue their dream of becoming parents one day.

For anyone who has ever struggled in life just in general and knows what it’s like to be behind on bills etc PLEASE spread the love, dig deep and make a different in Cindy and Tim’s life.

Love to all, Angela from Finlee and Me xoxo

This is terribly sad. I have shared this and will make a donation today. I pray that she won’t need the hysterectomy and their dream of having a little baby will finally come true. I wish her all the best for a successful operation. I really hope it goes well.
