All kids have positive personality traits
Over the weekend, I had a friend of ours ask what Finlee and Chloe’s personalities are like. At first I was able to name 1 for each of them and then the negative started to enter my head (insert mother guilt) like stubborn, hot headed etc. I wanted to turn the negative traits I had into positive personality traits because even though one might be stubborn if I frame this into a positive it will help with building self esteem, self worth etc.
Finlee is my 5 year old boy and was born on August 25th, making him a Virgo. Finlee is my little gem filled with so much to offer to himself, but also the people around him. I started thinking of the top 3 things that remind me of Finlee and I came up with the following: kind, loving and persistent. Kind. Finlee is beyond kind and has the ability to put his needs second in order to ensure others are ok. Loving. He loves everyone and everything and this makes my heart skip a beat because if he treats people and animals ok no matter what happens in life everything will be ok. Persistent. The old saying if there’s a will there’s a way and this is so true for Finlee. If he wants something, or needs something fixed he will think outside the box in order to achieve what he needs to. Finlee you’re a true gem and I love you dearly keep up being who you are.
Chloe is my 2 year old baby girl and was born on January 18th, 2013, making her a Capricorn. I don’t know what it is about Chloe, but because I had to go through IVF to conceive her, gained 13 kgs in 3 days because of hyper stimulation, almost lost her with bleeding, but eventually everything turned around and now we have her; I often wonder how much of her personality is linked with everything we had to over come. My 3 key positive personality traits for Chloe are the following: determined, independent and affectionate. Determined. If Chloe wants shorts on, she will get her shorts on. If she wants a certain toy, she will get that certain toy. She definitely is a determined soul. Independent. As her mother, I will try and show her how to do things however she is to independent for this. She will figure it out on her own and on her own time and that is it. Affectionate. She loves a good cuddle and giving a good cuddle. She is so kind to her brother and is so tender with her baby doll. Chloe you’re a legend and keep being who you are and one day you may even be the next prime minister.
Looking for the positive in our kids
This short post is more about bringing awareness as to how we can be looking for the positive in our kids vs the negative. I mean don’t get me wrong there will be days that the word stubborn and hot headed will still slip out of my mouth. However, I’m hoping that now I have more of an awareness that I will be able to re frame my thoughts and turn them into something positive, which in the end will help with their self esteem and creating who they want to become.
