Pencils of Promise

With the morning sun on my face, the breathtaking view of the ocean in front of me and the sweet sound of tropical birds chirping in the background, this is my current life in Cebu, Philippines. I arrived into Cebu thinking this was simply going to be “another” business conference however, it’s so much more. The Tropical Think Tank conference has connected me with amazing people, allowed me to regroup, eat a meal while it’s hot (moms/mums will understand the important of this), but I’ve also been introduced to a brilliant initiative that everyone needs to know about: Pencils of Promise.

Pencils of Promise

While I’m in Cebu, Finlee (my 6 y ear old) is back in Australia at school. Finlee is fortunate enough to have a desk, all the school supplies that he needs, a building to protect him from the weather, electricity and a wonderful teacher however, we must remember this is is not the case for many children around the world.

Pencils of Promise,  believes that every child should have access to quality education. They create school programs and global communities around the common goal of education for all. Since 2009, Pencils of Promise has built 309 schools throughout Ghana, Guatemala, and Laos and opened up the wonderful world to education to 1000’s of children.

To see the wonderful work that has already been done watch this breathtaking video of Pencils of Promise.

Support Pencils of Promise

Tropical Think Tank conference members: entrepreneurs, coaches, speakers, authors, experts, bloggers and podcasters have decided to come together to raise $25,000 which is the total cost to build one school.

In order to reach this goal, we’re going to need some help from the global community, which means I’m reaching out  to my Finlee and Me community and asking you to please donate to Pencils of Promise. $5, $10 or even $100 every little bit counts and together we’ll reach the goal of $25,000 to build a school.
