Thermomix Playdough Recipe for Kids

Kids love playdough and this Thermomix Playdough Recipe is easy, quick and reliable to make for kids of all ages. I’ve tried numerous Thermomix Playdough recipes and until now always had a problem with the way the recipe turned out: either the dough was to sticky, to clumpy or dried out within days of making it. However, after tweaking a few recipes I’ve come up with this one that your family is sure to love and can be whipped up within 10 minutes from start to finish.

  • 250g water
  • 100g cooking salt
  • 1 tbsp cream of tartare
  • 285g plain flour
  • 15g oil (I use olive oil)
  • Food colouring

Step 1: Pop water, salt and cream of tartare in the thermomix bowl and cook for 5 minutes and 30 seconds at 60 degrees/speed 3.

Step 2: Add flour to the thermomix bowl and mix for 45 seconds/speed 3 (no heat) until mixture is totally mixed.

Step 3: Next add the oil to mixture and use the knead function for 2 minutes (please note, that you need to press the knead button, enter 2 minutes on the clock and ensure it’s on the closed lid icon which is the second image from the bottom). At this time, your mixture will look like crumbs, so don’t freak out as I promise once you start kneading it turns into the most beautiful playdough.

Step 4: Tip the playdough mixture out onto counter and divide into 3-4 equal amounts.

Step 5: Choose the food colouring you want and place as many drops as you’d like into the 3-4 divided amounts and then knead until is completely mixed through. Here is Finlee (my little one) kneading the colour into the mixture.

Step 6: Have fun, create memories and when finished simply pop in an air tight container.
