30 Days, 30 Ways for Mothers to Take Care of Themselves {Day 10}: Read Up a Storm!

30 Days 30 Ways for MothersTake Care of Yourself Day 10

“So many books, so little time.” — Frank Zappa

I use to read 1-2 books per week prior to having Finlee and Chloe. Yes. I know.

In the last 6.5 years since having my first child I reckon I’ve read a total of 5 books. Yes, again. I know.

However, this year I’ve made it a priority to get lost in a good novel, not only for my own nourishment… but also because by reading I’m role modeling to my kids the importance of reading.

As a mother, I’m not able to sit for hours glued to my book, but what I’ve found is if I just read 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night which is around 50 pages per day times then, in 365 days a year, I would have read 18,000+ pages which is awesome.

Of course read more if you can but 20 minutes a day still allows you to get learn, get lost in a story plot and allows your brain to work in a different way.

Take Care of Yourself with Ease Idea

Today I want you to decide on a book you want to read. Don’t overcomplicate or overthink the decision.

Pick a book that you’ll enjoy.

It doesn’t have to be a bestseller or a popular choice.

It doesn’t have to be fiction, if that isn’t your love.

It doesn’t have to be a paperback even. eBooks are incredible for busy Mums, like us.

Pick a book.

That’s it.

Next, decide when will you take out the 10 minutes or 20 minutes to read it.

It can be when you’re enjoying your cuppa coffee {see Day 9}.

It can be when you’re outdoors soaking in the sun or savoring the sweet flowers {see Day 1}

Yes, nearly all the “taking care of yourself” ideas can easily be bundled together for added impact 😉

This is multi-tasking with method, not madness.

Take Care of Yourself with Intention

Reading is more fun when you do it with friends. Find a virtual book club or create your own by sharing on Facebook or Instagram. Who knows maybe you’ll find mums who’re local to you and you can actually meet in person too!

Use the hashtag #30DaysCare because we’re picking winners too, at the end of 30 days!
